Looking Back
The main character in the next section of reading really goes deep into his memories. He remembers his experiences through the eyes of a boy, but as he looks back he is able to understand more. For example, when he saw Ursula and his father in the room he did not understand what they were doing, but looking back he now now understand that his father was having some kind of affair with the housekeeper. This makes me reflect on how it is feeling like a kid because as a kid we think we know everything, but as we mature we understand the world more and are able to reflect on our lives.

I think this is an interesting point. As the story is told from an older mans memories you get different views. Most the tell the story is explained through an 11 year old's point of view but is interjected with the thoughts of the older man.
ReplyDeleteYou mean seven years old. MC was seven and Lettie was 11. But there was a quote that stuck out to me that Old Mrs Hemostock said in the epilogue, "Different people remember things differently. and you'll not get two people to remember anything the same.e, whether they were there or not." After forty years, he will be a different person no matter of how he believes that no one ever really changes.
